Did you know tofu is one of the oldest foods in the world, and is the primary source of protein for over one billion people globally? Tofu, made from soybeans, contains all nine essential amino acids, has no cholesterol, and is low in saturated fat.

How is tofu made, you ask? Often called bean curd, Tofu is made by curdling soy milk (from soybeans) and then pressing the resulting curds into soft, white blocks. The process is similar to the way that cheese is made from whole milk.

Tofu can be used as a vegan substitute for meat, which is a big trend right now in the food scene. More and more people are looking into meat alternatives, whether it is for health purposes, climate change, constraints on natural resources, and/or animal welfare.
